Doodle it up!

I am a doodler. I have doodled my way through classes, through paintings and now through gifts. One of the easiest ways to personalise a gift is to get something relevant and doodle it up to leave your own mark. And in a world of markers, this requires no special skills.

Examples of some of the doodlesome gifts I have given lately:

This mask for the new office of a theatre professor:

Theatrical 2-faced mask (wooden)
Mask procured from: Archies Gallery (Satyam), College Road, Nashik
Doodle made using gold coloured markers.
This wine-box for a friend who loves his wine and is also a wine-engineer. (Not my best work, but conveys the love, methinks)

Doodlesome Wine Box
Wine box received with Sula Wine.
Doodled using permanent markers.
Or this laptop cover for my sister, with her name on it.

Doodlesome laptop case
Blue Laptop case bought on Amazon.in
Doodled using permanent markers

Have fun doodling! :)

Warmly,
J

Married Firsts.

While celebrating weddings, we often get too involved in the HUGE changes that will be taking place in the couple's lives, while the couple is actually getting ready for the smaller things. So, for one of our friend's wedding (and may I add, one of my favourite couples), we decided to give a gift that celebrates these small coupley moments.

We made a list of 25 special firsts in the couple's life as a married couple (because they got married on the 24th, and one for good luck - you can choose any no. you like).  Some of these were aww moments and some just funny. We had also taken into account that they were flying abroad to a beach for their honeymoon, so several references were pertaining to that. They loved tea, so we included that. We had in mind that they will be living with his parents. The point is, customise this to what you know about the couple.

Then we made 25 pairs of lindt chocolates and packed each one separately with a ribbon. Each pair for them to celebrate each of these small special moments. We put a note with the "first" on the pair, and also handed them a masterlist of these firsts. And then we just put them in a cute little bag/box that they can keep for a while.

So, our note looked something like this:

Now that the wedding's over, here's something to celebrate the marriage that comes after that. This package contains 24 pairs of lindt chocolate (and one for good luck). Each one of them celebrates a special moment in the start your relationship.

  1. The first time you sign in as Mr & Mrs L.
  2. When R officially changes her surname.
  1. The first time you get on a flight together as Mr & Mrs L.
  2. The first time you enter your house as Mr and Mrs L.
  3. Your first kiss as a married couple.
  4. Your first bath together as Mr. and Mrs. L.
  1. Your first cup of tea as Mr. and Mrs. L.
  1. The first time you share your toothbrush while being married.
  2. Your first fart/burp in front of each other as husband and wife.

  2. The end of your first trip abroad as Mr. and Mrs. L.
  3. Your first walk in the rain as Mr. and Mrs. L
  1. The first time you cook together/for each other as a married couple.

Here's to wishing you a lifetime of such special moments. May there always be enough chocolate to celebrate all of them :)

We added a few gift vouchers to the bag, and voila, here was a fun gift all ready and customised.

A word of caution though: I would best recommend this gift only if you are close enough to the couple to speak of these things!

Until next time, happy gifting people! :)
